About	The Team Canada entry performing in the recent World Invitational Lion Dance Contest, held in Winnipeg. There were entries from Hong Kong, China, Malaysia, USA and Canada. The lion costume is worn by two team members and the jumps between the platforms are performed with the person in the front on the shoulders of, or being held up by the person in the rear. The small platforms are from 3-9 feet high, and the dance is judged by a number of criteria, such as style and adherence to the accompanying music, similar to other events such as skating or gymnastics. There is a high degree of athleticism needed, as well as an element of danger from falls. Malaysia won the event.

first of all, it's a great frame Dave, really the way you get the shot...fallowing that high of the dragon AND generaly all the scene as placed into the image is great! after that surely a subject like that is surely a very interesting.

Very impressive action/sports capture and an interesting history Dave. I can't imagine why people do these things...but I'm a big chicken I guess...it looks dangerous to me. If one is out of sync they both pay...yikes. Your image really tells the story, and it's nice to see the concentration of the people in the audience too...it looks like you'd hear a pin drop, I can almost feel the tension. Well done..:)

Dave, this is an excellent colorful photo but I especially like that you filled us in on the background. I have never heard of this contest and I find it very interesting. Understanding the nature of the photo adds greatly to the enjoyment of viewing it. Del.
