Nice one, Rob, and you got a perfect reflection to go with it! I find all these different shorebirds very confusing, too!

I think that you are absolutely correct Todd . The birds in my other image do indeed appear to be somewhat different than your Greater Yellowlegs shot . I will correct my descriptions a.s.a.p. . Thanks :)

Rob,

I think what you have here is a Solitary Sandpiper. What makes me think that is the distinct eye ring, which Yellowlegs don't have, and the markings on the neck. A Yellowlegs has darker marking that go further down the flanks. Your other picture, titled "I'm Taller", is of two Yellowlegs. It is very difficult to tell the Lesser from the Greater, especially in photos. The best explanation I have heard so far is that a Lesser Yellowlegs' bill does not appear to be significantly longer than its head. A Greater Yellowlegs' bill appears to be almost twice as long as its head. Greater's also tend to be more massive. If I were to guess, I would say "I'm Taller" is of two Lesser Yellowlegs.

BTW, This is an excellent capture of the Solitary Sandpiper. I really enjoy all your nature shots. You have a good eye.
