About This was shot at a place called Burul, which is about 40 kms form Kolkata and on the Ganges. Contrary to practice, I tried experimenting by increasing the shutter speed to 1/250. The motion of the tiny wavelets were captured in the process. The red spots that you see are reflections of hibiscus on an adjacent farmhouse garden, while orangish stuff is drying banana tree barks/shells.

One of my own favourites.

This is zero photoshop. Adobe photoshop that is.

God uses his own!

Stunning!!! I've really enjoyed exploring your portfolio but this one is definitely one of my favorites. And your comment is so fitting - the world is truly God's own photoshop, we just often fail to see it.

Fantastic!

Since you seem to have a great interest in photography as a contrast to painting, you may enjoy my portfolio Luxagraphia:

http://www.usefilm.com/photographer.asp?ID=107677&PF=25833

And perhaps especially images such as "La lune nous parle" and "The Early Impressionists".

This entire portfolio is camera work (not PS work) in the main. (Some PS work is required to upload the images, but that work is detailed in each About section.)

Hi Soumaydeep, Photography is, as you know, graphy (painting/drawing) with photo (light). There could be different forms, and this is one of them. People tend to compare photos with paintings, which I myself do not believe in (there are really two entirely different form of visual art IMHO), but they are entitled to their views too. Good to know what other people think about my work.

For me, I wanted to do an experiment and capture the abstract - doesn't it look like 20% photo and 80% Photoshop? This is 0% photoshop though, except for the resizing.

Thanks a lot for your honest comment Soumyadeep. This is what I need most here in UF.

photography is itself a form of visual art that has acreedeted worldwide in 20th century. a photograph like this proves that man is still comparing photography with paintings to me this concept really places photography at a low rank from beginning

otherwise the photograph is brilliant

Thanks James. I could have easily flipped the image vertically, but thought let me leave it to the viewers imagination. I have, in fact, reverted it and looked at it, just wanted to find out whether others would also take enough interest in the image to take the pain of opening the image, reverting it and uploading. I am happy that I have been able to generate that interest. Yes, reverted, it looks more like a painting, I already knew about that.

Thanks James once again for your well though comments.

Thank for you including a detailed About. It's nice to be able to find out about the images we look at here.

I think this is a great shot, but I also think it needs to be turned about in order to bring out its strength.

Wow this really does look like a work of art straight out of Photoshop. I love the splashes of colour amongst the green. Very tranquil setting, lovely rich tones. Nice work. Cathy

Thanks Maryam. Rotating it 180 was definitely an option, but then that would taken off the originality of the image. Thanks for your comment.
