Sorry for the confusion, my friend, but the reply to you from "Medina Demeter" is really! My fiance accidentally left herself logged in before I realized!
Hope this clears things up and again, thank you! J

I love the photo and am a cat lover to the max. I have found that sometimes the photo scans can be improved by using a different software interface. For example the Windows WIA software is very limited and on my PhotoSmart scanner I usually select the HP interface for more control. Have found the same to be true of my Epson scanner (Perfection 1640). Have you checked with your phot scanner manufacturer for an interface with tuning parameters?

Sorry about that. It is hard to find rental places that allow pets. I am very fortunate in this, since my son-in-law arranged for my lovely little apartment. It is owned by his boss, and I can have dogs or cats, if I wish.

My pets are a few hundred miles away from me. Unfortunately, the landlady won't let my fiance and I have pets, so they're staying with my parents.

Where are your pets? I have rarely been without dogs, cats, or something, but when my husband died last year, my Mom had both of our older, ailing animals put to sleep. She didn't think I could handle the stress...and she was right. But then I did not have even the comfort of those dear furry creatures. I do plan on adopting a cat, soon.

You're welcome. I don't have a solution...perhaps someone else...

Oh! And I agree...there seem to be a large proportion of cat lovers on UF! Although, I have to admit...any kind of animal, I'm in love! Since I don't have my pets with me right now, I'm living vicariously through my photos!

Thanks, Shirley. I know there's nothing I can do, short of purchasing a good film scanner to really increase quality. I'm just wondering if there's something I'm missing. Even crystal clear sharp photos come out grainy and soft. **sigh** thanks for the feedback, though! :-D

I'm amazed at how many of us on UF are cat lovers! This is so sweet, Jacob. Fortunately, I have a wonderful film scanner, but I have the same problem as you when it comes to scanning prints...great loss of quality.
