Hi Sam,
Thanks for the words of encouragement! You're right, it's good to set yourself apart and I try to do that every chance I get. Succeeding, well...sometimes I get lucky! I didn't think this image suffered for having stepped outside the box a teeny bit.
I think it's ok to toot your wife's horn...I'll go check out her portfolio. Thanks for the heads up!
Take care...Robin

Stunningly beautiful in its simplicity and very, very emotive. This is one incredible shot with great color, perfect DOF and, basically, WoW!

Robin,

I think this shot makes a statement. That it is ok to think outside the box. What I mean is Everyone post shots of flowers with a center focus. Not everyone post shot with a petal focus. To me, the idea of photography is to set yourself appart from everyone else and You do that on a constant basis.

This shot speaks loads of different abilities.

For one you have managed to capture the soft details of the petals and leave the center of the Daisy out of focus as well as the BG. The Combinations of Yellows and Greens in the BG make the Daisy POP. You have framed this up awesomely.
I think you have a winner here.
My best Regards

Sam III

PS
I know I shouldn't be promoting someone elses images, but I have finally gotten my Wife to use my 20D and post her images. I think she has a good eye for composition and she thinks outside of the box. If you get a minute, please take a look at her portfolio and let her know what you think.
Her name is Kim Graziano.
Thanks my friend. All the best!

A superb dof creates this wonderful blurry background to show off this beautifully composed floral study. I love the rich golden yellow and the details in the petals. Well done to you sweetie. I'm all behind again as usual following work this week. My very best wishes to you as always Robin....Ray

Hmmm...I uploaded, removed it, looked at it some more, and uploaded again. I know the focus is on the petals and not the center, but I kinda like it anyway. Thanks Mel, I appreciate your honesty!
Take care...Robin

I think you've just missed with the focus on this one, unfortunately. I love the DOF, and the background flowers add to the atmosphere and story.

A focus upon the central petals... while the DOF offers the perspective... only wonder whether the daisy would not really stand out if there were no other yeallos in the background+?
