A nice image, Greg! Very moody - wonderful! I do agree with Rina. The difference is quite noticeable! IMHO, her recommendations would create and even better image.

Cheers

I like this a lot. Definitely a great looking road and the muted B&W looks good.

Hi Greg.....I think the composition is very sound and I particularly love the winding path leading us into the mists. I cannot write anything useful about mono conversions as I am a bit of a dunce regarding that. Like yourself I have CS2 and I have mastered quite a few elements in it but conversions are still a mystery and a bit hit and miss. I love the moody atmosphere and it looks good in my book.....Very best wishes.....Ray

Thanks Rina appreciate the input. I have my camera on iso 50 all the time for doing landscapes - to get that depth and colour but often forget to change it for these conditions or for doing b/w. I do have CS2 but really haven't spent much time getting to know it. May play around and repost.
Thanks Greg

Compositionally [is that a real word?], it couldn't be better. And I do like it. However, I think there's too much middle grey.

I had a little play with it in ps. Used a Curves adjustment layer with Luminosity blend. This seemed to bring out a nice contrast and helped to emphasise the road and distant mountains. I've attached an example, it's very rough but just to give you an idea of what I mean.

That said, I noticed the ISO 50 and wonder if this may have been a contributing factor to the overall greyness. If you're not really a ps guy, maybe try bumping up the ISO in this sort of difficult light...?

Other than that, it's a great shot and I agree with you about that curve in the road. It makes this image.

Cheers
Rina.

The composition is spot on in my opinion - a nice feeling of balance. The darkness helps with the atmosphere but in my opinion, a little more contrast could help spice the image up. Nevertheless, a wonderful landscape shot.

You've certainly captured the bleakness of this landscape. Danny's comment about the "road to nowhere" gives it a better title, I think. A bit more contrast would also give it more punch. I'd be inclined to play about with the channel mixer - there's a much better image here IMHO

I would have liked it better if it had been a sunny day- but it wasn't so we are left with this good dark asmospheric shot of the road to nowhere. A bit like my comments really. Good one Greg.
