Excellent shot!!! It seemed to be getting a bit dusty though sitting around on the site like that for so long, so I decided to wrap it up in plastic for you. Hope you don't mind. ;-)

Beautiful shot. The building is almost the same color as the ground, and looks like it belongs there.

This is a really stunning image Christian. I like the contrast of the hermitage against the misty background. There's wonderful balance in this composition. Just great work.

Thanks for your comments and suggestions. Montserrat is a moutain ridge located South West of Barcelona, the capital of Catalunya, a region in the North East of Spain. It harbours a very old and traditional catholic pilgrimage center, celebrated for its choir. Beside the main monastery, reachable by road, numerous paths lead to small ermitages such as this one, located on some of the most breathtaking locations. Most are very worn and some are abandoned. If you spend a day there, you'll bring back more than good photos.

Beautiful place of Catalunya... it captures after the fire; good tone, composition and light

Christian, I've viewed this photo about 5 times so I feel I should eventually comment. I like it because the building on the left provides a beautiful foreground with a picturesque BG to match it. The BG looks almost B&W and the foreground colour, so it looks almost monotone with some handpainting which gives it that wall painting look. It really is quite a stunning picture. Well done.

I didn't see your first version, but it looks great now. Question: where is Montserrat?

Meanwhile, while I was doing the border you changed it and it looks great. I'll leave you alone now! Thanks for chatting.

Sorry, I meant "painting" not paining!! Anyway, attached is sort of what I meant by the border. I apologise for taking liberties and I may have somewhat cartooned the original. Take a look...

Thank you Lazlo. I've changed the framing now. I tought I called for a teal border, oh well, talking about heresy, I'm colourblind ! It's not alwasy easy to comply to the majority perceptions. This picture was scanned from the negative using a basic flatbed (Agfa Snapsacn e52). One of its flaw is makin very soft images.

Beautiful photo, Christian. The subject matter and composition make a critique almost superfluous. It has the look of an old picture / painting in an illustrated bible. Suggestions...rethink the turquoise border - I think it really distracts from the photo and maybe sharpen it slightly (likely heresy to some of you and kind of contradictory to my paining comment but oh well). Really good, I voted a 9.
