About Credit to Marlyce for the title . . .:)
This bird was kind enough to turn his back on me so I couldn't get the shot I wanted . . . and then he threatened to fly off when I stepped toward him . . . giving me this wonderful shot! (1/800sec; f/7.1; 200 ISO)

You're the greatest Sheila! :)
Certainly made me smile with the comment . . . so far nobody has mentioned that I should keep that black spot in . . . I guess that says something! Marlyce is so proud of her title . . . it seems to be a bigger hit than the picture . . . ummmm . . . I mean . . . than the black spot!

Great shot Doyle. Love the title too! Let's see, Critiquer's Corner... I love the crop, the details of the feathers, the warm tones...the black spot under the wing doesn't bother me much, but I guess you could clone it out just for fun. All in all a great photo with a perfect title!

Thanks Nessa . . . I may have to have Marlyce title more of my work in the future . . . her title apparently went over quite well in this case! :)

Thanks Klaas! (Marlyce agrees with you that the title is ingenius . . . or good, as you stated). :) I agree with you that the photo is unsurpassed in the world of avian photography . . . or good and sharp detailed as you said. ;)

Thanks Ray!
I agree 100%. I never try to make EVERYONE happy . . . just little ol' me! That being said, I disagree with Laura's comment though she has done me a service to tell me how she sees it in her eyes. That's more helpful than many would ever believe. Chris pointed out something I agreed with (also helpful). Marlyce (among many others) doesn't like pictures to be corrected in any way which was not like the actual capture (such as cloning out the black spot). Still, how often do we see airbrushed models on magazine covers?? By "renowned" photographers (many of who have NEVER even won a UF award!! :)
Honestly . . . aren't we are own worst critics? It is so very helpful to have other people overlook things we thought was sooooooo very critical and point out what we overlooked instead!! I enjoy comments critical or not . . . even absurd ones. Just like to know the work is looked at! :)

Brilliant you got him like this Doyle. The angle of those wings and the eye. Great panoramic- the details and colours wonderful.

I LOVE the title so well done Marlyce. Great details in the gull's wing spread Doyle and a wonderful decision to crop and present in superwide format. I note what Laura and Chris wrote and it is so annoying that WE manage to miss these little points....I appear to do it almost continuously. I have to say that they are not things I tend to worry about and I had to look back twice at your shot to checkout what had been said. Our photographs are as we see them and they are not going to appeal to everyone.

I end by saying that I think you have an excellent composition which was well captured and presented. Good work my dear friend. Very best wishes.....Ray

Great point Chris! It's absurd how obvious things can get by someone until it's pointed out, isn't it? Of course, you're quite right about a small needless distraction just looking at me! LoL! :)

Thanks Laura . . . I appreciate the honest comments . . . I'll have to check my original . . . I tend to adjust for anticipated loss during re-sizing and uploading. Clearly a good thing to keep in mind though! :)

Hi Doyle,
It is a great title for this picture.
The details in the feathers are nice and I like your wide crop.
There is a black spot on the sand under the left wing. Not a big thing but removing it will bring more focus to the bird I think.
Regards,
Chris

Great shot of the gull. He really has a wide wing span. Colors seem a tad oversaturated IMO.
