I think that a little more DOF would really help this image... I'm not sure how your camera is set up, but if you can control the depth of field, try to get it so both flowers are in focus with the background still blurred. AS well, I like the shades of grass on the left side of the flowers, but I find that the total darkness on the right is redundant. Try cropping the right side by about 1/5th and see what you think.
Flowers are great subject to practice on... can you tell us at all about your set up... what kind of light was used, what settings your camera was at... (I don;t know anything about the Elan II is it digital?)

This is probably the only flower picture I will ever like.They look ashamed. Hang your head in shame little bell flowers.
