Location City -  Whitby
State -  NORTH YORKSHIRE
Country - United Kingdom   United Kingdom
About Whitby is well known for its belief in ghosts and superstition.

One of the most famous supernatural links to Whitby is Bram Stokers ‘Dracula’, which recounts how Count Dracula arrived in England after being shipwrecked off Kettleness, coming ashore in the form of a large black dog. Maybe the inspiration for this story came from the ghostly black dog that was often seen around Kettleness.

Whitby Abbey is said to have its own ghosts. Its founder, St. Hilda, is regularly sighted standing in one of the northern windows wearing her shroud. Also, at daybreak on Christmas morning, a choir of angels is sometimes heard.

A 'Gothfest' is held in this quaint town a couple of times each year... next one... around Halloween x

Nice atmosphere in this photograph. I like the vibrant blue of the sky and the deep green of the grass. The silhouette has a lot of interest in it, there are a lot of geometric forms througout. Nice capture.

Hi Dave.. thank you for your comment. That line appears only when this photo is uploaded.. .think it must be caused by shrinking the photo for UF! Not too sure though... but the original does not show any 'highlighted' lines around the ruins. If anyone knows a way around this please let me know.

Keep well & bright

Just amazing Sue- the strong atmosphere. Shadows, silhouettes and definite colours brilliant. I used to love the old Dracula films and would love to see a new one start with just this vision!

Nice job of composing these shots, Sue! The atmosphere is very good here. My only slight quibble is the line around the ruins, but I don't know what you can do about that.
Dave.
