Excellent capture Larry with great details and a wonderful freeze in the wing movements and water splashes on the bird,s exit. The composition is well balanced and not at all centralised. Well done to you my friend, all the best....Ray

Very nice Larry, I like the nice wingspread and splashing water, I really dont see the whites as being blown out with a bird that has a head and neck that are perfectly exposed, they say aim for the eye with birds and your always going to get what the camera gives you as far as exposure on the rest of a closeup bird, should you have aimed for the mid body or wing you would have had a dark head, and i dont think this guy was going to stay in that nice position while you found the happy medium..
excellent shot..

Excellent timing, and your shutter speed was perfect for this one, Larry! I like the way you stopped the splashes of water and caught him right on the edge.
Dave.

It is a great moment and a dandy capture. A bit more green wouldn't have hurt, but hey, it's still a beauty. Good work . . .

Regards,
--George

You know Ron I like it when people make me think a bit about my choices...as you said this is a highly personal thing and definitely a "Eye of the beholder" view of the world....but constructive comments are always appreciated as long as you're willing to debate....Thanks

Yes I agree the bulk of the bird is on the left--offcentre. I just never know when I'm happy. If you had more lawn I would have liked to see a different crop. It really is a personal thing. I made more sky to "properly balance" a sailboat this week. Sometimes you got to just walk away I guess. Regards Ron.
PS don't ya just love it when someone can get passionate about your work? Otherwise......

I got at least what I thought was a fair amount of detail in the white...as to the line down the middle..don't you think the overall weight of the bird to the left of the composition offsets any cenering effect??...Thanks Ron

Nice action Larry I like the way that you froze those wings open like that. The crop , with the line running down the middle, bothers the image a little IMO. Did you have more grass to the right? Too bad those white feathers get blown out like that. I too have a real tough time exposing for those whites. Regardless the image is certainly pleasant.
