Thanks Dina...I've never thought this shot was really that great (despite the awards) and I thought you were just calling me out! Sorry for the misunderstanding, like I said, it's been one of those days. :-)

oh my..... apparently you misunderstood my compliment. In saying "you nailed it" ... I meant you captured the moment perfectly. And by saying "so deep", i mean it is a rich shot with lots of meaning. hope your day gets better... :-0

Love this photo! I'm about to graduate and this brought back memories of high school, and trying to open my combination lock only to find it was stuck. I took a similar photo (or rather tried to) a couple years ago but it came out nowhere near as good as yours.

Congrats on the double award Nicole. I don't feel nearly so bad about not being able to offer any constructive advice on how to improve this now that I read Hugo's comment. Apparently it can't be done. Nice shot.

Back in college. Don't want to be there, but I have to; I'm sucked back in when I look at this photo. Very well captured, and a school book (pun intended) example of shallow DoF. The tonal range, just a bit clipped, assists in creating the feel perfectly; don't think there's a different choice to be made here. Even if you had the opportunity, colour wouldn't have been as strong, nor would a red filter or different film - spot on in all aspects. Woudn't know where to start, it just all adds up. Rock solid shot!
Cheers,
Hugo
