This building is currently under construction in London, UK. I'm not too sure what it's going to be, but you can't miss it. I find it rather striking. I took this just as the sun was about to set - there was one break in the clouds off to the left from where a little light from the sunset was visible (and shining onto the left side of the building), but otherwise the sky was pretty drab, and actually raining lightly. I look forward to hearing any comments as I have little experience of inner city photography. Thanks!
Thanks Heather. I actually found it by chance - while waiting for the sun to set so that the spotlights would be turned on at Tower Bridge (South Bank, just to the west of the bridge). Sometimes we just get lucky :). I think the softness may have been caused by the rain. It was one of those days England is so famous for...
HI megan, I was in london a couple of weeks ago wondering where I could get a good clean view of the gherkin - looks like you found it! The little bit of sun to one side adds to this. Overall its a little bit soft - did you use a tripod? Good one. H:)
Maybe they should have called it "phallic"?? lol? At any rate, it is a highly interesting architecture. You captured it well Megan, the composition and colors; very good. I also find the old (on the right), and the new, juxtaposed nicely.
Actually, it was raining when I took this shot - but if you don't go out in the rain in this crazy place, when will you go out? It wasn't the shot I was hoping to get, but there's no guarentee there will be a weekend day with blue sky before the construction is finished :)
