Yes, this is my new 50mm Canon lens. I just got it a few weeks ago and am having so much fun experimenting with it. I've been using it with a tripod and then using the timer to take the shot. It seems a little more sensitive to movement than my other lenses.

I think the light makes it sorta rough looking. I kinda want to see a softer feel to this; no light spots. It's gorgeous in color. but seems like it's missing something. I like the full on macro look though.

Good details, Sissy! And pretty colors, too! Maybe I don't have a very good eye...this doesn't look blown out to me, just a red and white rose. Good suggestion from Kelly...maybe you should look into that!

This is very nice Susie but I do feel that you have some overexposed hot spots where there is a lack of detail. If you look at this the first place an eye goes is to the white hot areas but then when that goes away you see some very pretty detail in the other areas. Remember the eye always seeks the lightest areas first. Don.

My,my,my!!! this one is just blowing kisses to us all!These roses with colours in gradation, from white to pink/red are very difficult to shoot without overexposing. Maybe taking them from a distance might give better results.

There is an immense amount of blown out highlights in numerous perimeters of the overall structure of this floral and I don't particularily like the closeup crop at all so either go in much further or back all the way out. Just an honest and straight forward critique ...
P.S. If this piece was open for rating I probably would give it a '4' ...

Susie, nicely embraced definition of the Costco beauty here, great lines, beautiful lighting and excellent tones. I have bought an orchid from Costco a month ego, great deal below 20 bucks - there was only 5 flowers then now it's 11 - and all in full fresh bloom - I'm just waiting for better lighting and will shoot.
