Thank you for your kind words, tell your daughter that this is a Blue Jay. They are noisy birds and will chase all other species away! lol

I like the cropping of this photo Laura as well as the posing of the bird.
My daughter "Khadija" is sitting beside me now and she said: that's a wonderful bird, what do they call this bird? :0)
Take care Laura, God bless you,
Khaled.

Hi Laura....this is a pretty little bird and it has such delicate colouring that it has merged into the background; I doubt that you could easily have overcome that as, let's face it, they don't hang around long enough for you to select a different aperture. I think this is a great capture with good clarity and composed well. All the best to you my dear.....Ray

it's so nice! but i agree with Bruce. maybe by a blured background it'd be more clear!
good luck Laura!

I think the crop works OK Laura as far as the composition goes, but the bird gets a bit lost against the background. Perhaps from a different angle or a wider aperture would have made it stand out better.

A nice bird, captured just in the right moment. It could be a little bit sharper, but I know how difficult it is to shoot life animals.

Regards, Markus

Hi Laura,
I think the image would be improved with a closer crop. The branch on the left draws my eye from the bird. I know birds can be difficult to photograph, and I always seem to need a better crop on my bird photos.
With regards
Ken
