About This is our niece and great-niece. They are so close. Almost more like best friends than mother/daughter. There is nothing like a mother's comfort when you're feeling low is there?

A beautiful moment captured here, Susie! I love to see these peaceful family scenes, they are beautiful! There's no better place than in Mommy's arms, both of them look lovely! Excellent candid double portrait in B & W, it's going to be a great memory for them to share over the years! I love the little one's face tucked in there, so sweet!
Best regards, Ina

hi, nice quick capture of a special moment...like the tone choice, clarity and highlights...too bad about the tablecloth or hanging coat? in BG,but better to capture the moment than to chance losing it by preparing all of the elements...
regards,gayle
(update: Ann may not be heading this way afterall...depends on "which way the wind blows",so to speak..still a chance, but won't know until they hit the road :(

What a terrific intimate portrait, Suzie. I love how you've composed the two with the mother's face facing left and the daughter's straight at us. The B&W works beautifully here, as well.
Best,
Steve

Susie, I had not looked at the critiques. What Elisa did certainly solved the problem!

Thanks Eb for your honest critique. Did you see what Elisa did with the photo? I should have thought of that...vignetting would have solved the problem. That's what I love about this community...the sharing of ideas in a friendly manner. Thanks again for keeping me on my toes!

A very touching moment which appear well focused on the subjects, Susie. Perhaps the only item that takes the eye away from the connection of the two subjects is the highlighted wood, upper right. I suspect it grabs about 1/3 of my eye movement.

Hi Elisa,
I really like what you did. I'm usually all over doing vignetting but for some reason didn't think of it on this one. Perfect place for it. Thanks for the suggestion!

Beautiful candid double portrait Susie. The wonderful mono tone finish suits the mood of the pose. A lovely tender moment of the little girl in the comfort of her Mother's arms and the loving feeling transmited from the Mother to the daughter as her chin nestles in her daughter's hair. Well seen, composed and presented. 'See' you soon sweetie....Best wishes....Ray

Hi Susie! What a lovely and warm moment you´ve captured. There is no better place for a child than this. I made another version applying an inner shadow. What do you think?

Thanks KP. And thanks for your observation about the dof. This was purely a candid so I didn't have much control over it. I converted it to b/w because of that very fact. The chair in the b/g was a little too prominent and I really couldn't crop it much tighter. (Maybe a tad more on the left looking at it again...) I appreciate your candidness very much! Have a great day!

Great moment captured! Indeed, there bond is quite visible. It's a great image susie! The best part of the whole composition is that there is not much focus on either of the mother or the daughter's face. Which in turns gets your focus mainly on the bond shared b/w them! :) The only thing missing here from your usual captures would be the use of DOF! But nice work neverthless!

Regards.

A special moment Susie...Mom's chin resting on her baby's head, the little girl's closed eyes and her head nestled in the crook of Mom's arm convey the love and comfort both are feeling. Great tones and contrast, another great job!
Take care...Robin
