I really like that shot, Hugo. The colors are bold and deeply saturated but don't really look artificial. I've seen oily puddles like this one but never had a camera with me to capture them.

Maybe Al can initiate a new project - "Oil and Water on Pavement" - and we'll all be stalking about in parking lots around the world on rainy days, waiting for old cars that appear as if they may leak oil, to pull away. Then we can dash in with our cameras before the space is taken again! lol

Hi Kurt, thanks for the reply, very intersting... I took a fairly similar shot, and I remember it took me some time to find the right angle and point of view to the light to let the colours come out (see attached image, I did saturate the tones here too, but not much) but I never realised the difference could be this big... (no value statement, just an observation. I'm not sure which one I like better, yours is so much more subtle...)

Cheers,

Hugo

Hi Hugo. I did boost the saturation on this one - any more and it started to look unnatural (at least to my eyes on my monitor)
Best wishes, Kurt

Hi Rachel. This image supports my belief that art is all around us all the time; we only have to have eyes to see it (and a camera to capture it never hurts either!)

Thanks for looking and for the nice comments. Best wishes, Kurt

Hi Kurt, interesting pattern. I like these kinds of shot, as they show a good combination betwen abstracts, tones, textures and physics.... i think you could've upped the saturation in this photo a bit to make the colours come out a bit more vividly, but that's only me....:) Nice photo, and well captured, using the camera tilt to create the impression of a sloping surface...

Cheers,

Hugo
