Thanks for the advice ade. I use P/Shop CS2 but I will check my sharpness settings. Perhaps I've got it set too high in the camera too as I had bumped it up for shooting JPG's. Probably doesn't beed it with RAW.
You have snow - COOL! Yes get out there and shoot RAW. You can take it. :)
Cheers - Ann :)

Hi Ann,
Strange that you're getting noise at ISO 100 - it's pretty smooth at that on my 10D... All I can think of is the the software you're using may be causing the problem - I use Photoshop CS and have no problems at all. So long as you shoot using the same technique as you do with JPGs then you should always get better results in RAW.
Oh - maybe in the RAW editor you've got the Sharpness too high - that can cause harshness. It defaults to 25 on mine.
I can see loads of snow out of the window at the mo.... do I go out in the RAW today :-)

Definitley my most orange shot yet Petal - forgot about the Dutch connection! The sky really was that colour. So surreal. Clouds kept coming and going and they just turned this amazing colour. got a few more of these to post at some point :-)

Yeah - I think I hit SHIFT+S in Irfanview before posing it, so it brought the trees out a little more on the 800 pixle version... has put a white line around the distant hills. not on the full sized version - I think photoshop's a little cleverer at these things!
got over 2 gig of shots from Xmas - should keep me busy till new year :-)

Ade -- Wonderful depth achieved in this image. I am a real fan of these receding-ridge shots. I see the elements really worked for you in this capture. Wonderful color and sky elements.

Hiya Ade thought you must have gone to Lapland. This is a stupendous image with great recession in the hills but not too keen on the white halo. Is this with over sharpening?

Ade this is stunning. Have to love that RAW warmth. I've been experimenting with RAW images lately due to inspiration from your images and I've been getting a lot of noisy grain. Is that to do with the RAW format do you think or some other reason perhaps? I also use 100 ISO.
I love the tones in this and it has great lines and curves. Beautiful detail and clarity. A gorgeous image.
You must get cold shooting RAW all the time. (hehe)(*slaps self upside the head* - couldn't help myself - haha)
Cheers - Ann :)
