I've been tending to other projects for a couple of months and am now catching up on UF comments. Thanks for your October comment on my image, "Post Hurricane Katrina." I'd be interested in hearing how your son is doing since his return to NO. (you can write to me at weidnern@earthlink.net)

This is a reall beautiful image. You are a wonderful photographer of birds, but this one is particularly stunning. The lighiting and DoF are perfect. We can see every feather. -- Naomi

It is a wonderful grouping. I agree completely with Dave. I'd say the 2x is working just fine. ;-)

Best wishes,

Hi Darlene....is this the birdworld equivalent of a coffee morning???? Wonderful details in this composition and I love the muted early morning colours. Best wishes to you all...Ray

Truly optimal this image of a group of sandhills that they are behaved in natural way in water. Optimal DOF, also considering the lens.

Ciao

Pretty tight composition...I like the abstractness of the lines and shapes seen in their legs. Great catch with the front sandhill crane heading off in a different direction than the others. I like the blurry background too. Nice shootin' Darlene.

I'd be happy to see one of these birds, Darlene, let alone FIVE! Nicely done!

Darlene,

Beautiful image! The detail is very crisp and the natural chaos of the arrangement is quite attractive.

...wonder if they're waiting for the morning's delivery of Starbucks: "...tall Sulewasi mochas all around; hold the whipped cream, please." My kinda birds!

Nice one Darlene! Looks like the one is having a little trouble figuring out which way to go this morning. Do birds have a schedule...an agenda...a list of things to do? :) These are beautiful.

Hi Darlene,
It's hard to believe you were that far away. 2xmultiplyer on a 600mm. You did a good job of focusing on the three in the front, while the two in the back are just a touch off. I think that is a good thing for this image.

Darlene, what an interesting blend of background and bird, muted greys, I really like this! The cranes we have here are brown, so this is a treat seeing other colors. You are a jewel! Thanks again for sharing! Pat

Thanks Dave! It was freezing that morning and it was very early so I was happy with it. And had to use the doubler to get close to them and most of my shots with the 2X are not sharp. Have a wonderful Sunday my friend! Darlene

Very good detail here, Darlene, on both the cranes and the water they're splashing around in. Your focus is spot on!
Dave.
