About	This one just happened to be around when I had my 300 mm zoom lens on, so I did not have to get so close as to spook it. I did not even SEE the blue on the butterfly until I looked at the photo.

I had the camera on automatic settings. I was at the time capturing landscapes in New Hampshire. I left it that way and got deep depth of field. I'm one who likes deeper depth of field. I can usually play with the image using the softwae if I want the background to soften or disappear.

Nice image. You don't indicate the aperture, but I'd guess the lens was stopped down a bit. A wider aperture might have blurred the background a bit more.

Very nice capture. I love these subjects, but they sure are hard to shoot.
