Although I live in San Francisco, I unfortunately have to spend a great chunk of my time in Santa Clara, which is sort of a suburb of San Jose. Driving back and forth I can find a lot of really lovely new things to shoot on the rural highway I take, but when I go out at lunch to try to shoot stuff here in the area, I can't find a single thing that inspires me.
More and more there are places here in the states like Santa Clara that are so generic and masterplanned, that they have pretty much no character. Pretty much every building is a boring box filled with some chain store, the trees are all the same size and placed precisely, and it's hard to shoot people because they are racing from their SUVs to shopping centers.
I was wondering how people here who live in places like this find inspiration and I'd like to know what they do to seek out beauty in the suburbs.
