  Q. Digitizing Slides
Maryanne Murillo
Asked by Maryanne Murillo   Donor  (K=11617) on 8/1/2008
Just moved, and my son came across my collection of old slides -- many from a series of canoe trips taken before he was born. He pulled out his favorites, and I really like some of these (surprised I did so well back in the day). So, I've been looking at alternatives to digitize them and came across a gadget called the "VuPoint 35mm film scanner" on the National Geographic web site (also on Hammacher Schlemmer). Does anyone have any experience with this device? Also read about the Nikon Coolscan V ED, which is more expensive. Since I'm currently "house poor" I wondering if the less expensive alternative is worth it. The VuPoint has a 5MP CMOS sensor -- but I don't know what this means.

Thanks for any guidance.
