  Q. Using Manual Focus at Night...
* James *
Asked by * James *    (K=20200) on 7/22/2008
i have a D200 now and want to maximize my use of this fine camera.... and recently i have been looking at a lot of images made in low light at longer exposures that are very well done.

i read an article in popular photography by darwin wiggett and he does some very nice photos using longer exposures and filters, his work can be seen at darwinwiggett.com. his photos really do look like he painted with time...

anyway, my question is this: the auto focus doesnt work well in low light, if at all, so how can one manually focus if you cant see what you're shooting a photo of in low light? or more clearly, if you cant see the subject clearly?

i hope to be doing some landscape photography (among other things) in west china next month using the 12-24mm lens on the D200.
