I'm having a little problem with my prints and am hoping someone can help.
I recently used the ColorVision Spyder2 Suite to calibrate my monitor. I can adjust photos in PS until I get them to where I want them and on screen they look great.
The problem comes in when I go to print. Using the profiles for my Sony FP30 dye-sub and my Epson R1800 the photo doesn't look right. It comes out too dark and warm on the Epson, and too contrasty and warm on the Sony. It doesn't seem to make a difference what type of paper and icc profile I use on the Epson (I've downloaded and installed the most recent ones from Epson, and the Sony only has the one)
I've found that if I set the default icc profile in my printers' color management to the profile for the monitor, then what I see on the screen is what I get from my printers.
Am I wrong in thinking that a calibrated monitor and the icc profiles for my printers should give me should give me the correct color? Or, are you supposed to use the monitor's icc as your printer's icc profile?
I didn't think that a monitor profile should even be able to be used with a printer.
Anybody have any ideas?
Thanks, Roger
