Hello Arwa,
Take a look at this review as it compares the D70 against the D100. Personnaly I would choose the D70 and save the extra money for decent lenses. http://www.warehouseexpress.com/index.cfm?arouse/intro.html The reviewer is a chap called Andy Rouse a very good wildlife photographer and it is a very good review. Hope this helps ! Steve

I haven't used either of the camera but I have read alot of review on the,. From what i've read, alot of people prefer the D70 over the D100. The main reason for it, is the colors are more saturated. Beside that, there's very little difference. Personaly, I would get the D70. Here's a website that compares the D70 and the D100. http://www.kenrockwell.com/nikon/d70.htm

Glad you decided to get the D70. What the D100 has over the D70: vertical grip/battery pack, which makes it more balanced for lots of people (me, included). You can use an electronic shutter release on the vertical grip. It'll take two batteries (or one) which greatly extends your shooting time before replacing them.
But, aside from being able to accept the grip, the D70 is a better camera. Of course, it's also two years newer, so it should be. I have both. I prefer the D100 for studio shots (using the cable release) and the D70 for outdoor shots. That 1/500 sync speed is very nice, indeed.

I, too, got the kit lens. I am blown away with the quality and construction. Especially for a "kit lens." Not that you'll need it now, but the new 24-120 lens is outstanding, as well. Not the "D" lens (I have no experience with that one), but the "G" lens with VR.
I think you'd have been better off getting the 50/1.4 rather than the 60 Micro, for low light use, but I'm sure you have your reasons.
