About
So, my heron is back. And I decided to spend a few hours with my friend and watch him from afar. Originally I thought he may remember me and let me get close. But, no, As soon as I got within a 100 yards of him, he looked at me and flew off to the other side of the lake. So, I walked to the other side, but this time I slowed down to a crawl getting close. As soon as I was 200 feet off I sat down on the side of the lake and watched. After a while he walked around in the low water and spotted this fish. With a insane amount of speed the heron threw it's entire body into the water in a very unheron like way. As he raised his head I noticed he had skewered this little fish. After making sure it was dead he pried it off and tossed into its mouth. I hope you enjoy. Comments and critiques are very appreciated.
Wonderful, your patience paid off. I love to watch these birds, and everyone once in a while one shows up to eat the firsh in the man-made pond outside my office.
Michael, this is absolutely amazing. I don't think you see these kind of shots unless it's in a wildlife magazine or national geographic. Thanks so much for explaining the effort and patience it took to get this amazing image! You were rewarded well this time! I hope UF recognizes this and gives you an award! 7/7 and into my favs.
