About In my original, her little toes don't look so dark and smudgy, but I couldn't seem to fix that for uploading.
I think it would look good in B&W also. However, I am not pleased with my B&W switching of this yet. I obviously need to learn more about doing that correctly.

Hi Kim. Thanks for your comments and for making this suggestion. I appreciate your doing so. You are right, off center would make for a better composition.

I really like these photos that show comparision between parent and child... they will tresure this for years to come and look back at how small those feet really were.
I would maybe look at cropping a little off the top and a little off the right so that the feet weren't completely in the centre.

Yes - definitely a candidate for b&w - darkened a bit, with the contrast punched up and the wrist burnt in to make the hand disappear in shadow. Toning it might be quite effective as well. A really nice shot.

A real winner here. As much as I love the shot and its technically correct exposures and cropping and such what is sometimes more important is that you have touched so many others in positive ways. You have a shot that gets people involved, as evidenced by the comments. Well done. \PS I too have trouble with conversions to B&W. I guess we still have something left to work on. Isn't that wonderful?

Hi Carsten. I'm so glad you said about the square format for this. That is what I was originally thinking, but went with the commonly accepted put things off center theory. I think aquare would work for this. Thanks.

Hi Elisa. I thought of cutting off some of the side, also. But, I remembered that often things should be off center. However, nothing aplies to everything and I agree that this one centered would work. Thanks for the suggestion.

I love this, it conveys a whole range of emotions, innocence, love, protection and caring, and I could go on. I have looked at the offerings in B&W but I am always partial to color and prefer the one you posted. You used great imagination in selecting this pose to film. Del.

Roger Williams Roger Williams   {K:86139} 11/2/2005
Very effective, both the contrast in size of the tiny feet and the hands and the isolation by the blacked out background. You might like to explore the Power Retouche plug ins. There is a splendid one, I think it's called B&W Studio, for converting colour to B&W with an excellent tutorial on the website. It sure beats playing with curves and levels, Mary. I never use anything else.

good to make birth card from in B&W

If you have photoshop 7.0 or cs
Do a search for ACTION CENTRAL.
There you find very nice B & W ,sepia etc and frame actions.
If y need any more help about this, just ask me.
it is super easy .haha once you know how.

Beautiful Mary hope baby and Mum are doing fine, what a poignant 'not as close as I'd like' I really like this idea and it works really well. I too struggle with BW conversations, sometime I try just in hue and saturation, and as long there is plenty of colour/contrast [as there is in this] and just play with saturation/light and it can have some interesting results, in some cases just leaving hints of colour too. DId a quick desat play on this, see if you like
