I'm not familiar with the 75-300mm, but I can say that the 100mm macro is a fantastic lens. It works really well with the 5D and it was great with my rebel as well. The details are crisp and clear. It took me a little while to get used to it. I had some dof issues with it at first, but now it's my favorite lens.

Only had it an hour! Wow! It takes me more than that to get an abstract shot with the camera I am used to! And you had time to frame it and upload it as well... Wonderful - I love the blue and the shapes.
