About
This weekend we went to Charmey, in the heart of Gruyere to see the procession of cattle being driven down from alpine pasturesor or known as fête de la désalpe.
Flowered herds and armaillis in folk costume (bredzon) are back to the village, after four months spent in the mountain. Cows, heifers, sheep and goats will cross the village of Charmey.
We arrived about 20 minutes before the festival started. So many people already, and still lots of people were coming. Lucky us we still got a parking place just about 5 minutes walk.
Here is one of the first troop, lead by young children wearing traditional dress.
My mother brought a beer mug back from Switzerland that said "Auf der alm die gibst ka sind" which I think means "nothing bad comes from the alpine meadows." Lovely picture, Cessy.
