Good shot, expressive portrait. I have just decided to start a portrait series of my colleagues when I have noticed that you have already started such a project. Cheers, Gy.

Well, thankfully you did leave a comment. It's always nice to receive them, Green.
I had done a portrait of Rajnish (also seen in the series) one day, just for a laugh. Nick and the other guys asked me to do one for each team member. Only Paulo is missing (only 3 uploads per day, plus he has now left for greener pastures...)
I was going for a straight-forward environmental relaxed portrait. I had already taken a few partly-posed shots of Nick, then carried on a conversation, occasionally raising the camera and taking a few extra shots in continuous drive.
I found that this tends to produce a more relaxed look from the sitter. In Rajnish's case, for example, I rattled off 4 or 5 frames. In the first one he is quite serious, but by the last one, he's relaxed, almost amused by the noise of the motor drive, and smiling. It's cool to see the changes in the thumbnails :)
To be honest, the lighting was a big problem for me. We sit next to big floor-to-ceiling windows, but there is fluorescent lighting inside the building --- not a good mix!
I'm really pleased you like the colour balance.

Well, this shot looks like a frame from a tv commercial or something which is not necessarily a bad thing. The lighting, colors and DOF are good. Window light will almost always give you nice shots as it did here. What were you going for here? Was it just a simple snap shot catching a co-worker off guard or where you trying to say something? I intially did not intend to leave any comments to your shot but then I read your profile message.

Angelo la tua foto č molto interessante, il volto del tuo collega parla da solo, la fronte in particolare comunica al pari degli occhi. Bravo continua cosě.

He is very giving to the camera, with a candid, un-held-back humanity; no barriers to himself. Most people have a front, a defense of some sort, to hide their fear. I like his eyes, his expression. Will it have the same impact a hundred years from now? Maybe better.
