About Ok, I'm off again. Need to pack... Hopefully only for a fortnight, and I'll be back in August. Duty calls, and I have work to do... It'll be Hong Kong and China again.

Thanks for all encouragements and friendship.

I'll finish this triple Nine series before I leave, so expect two more.

Your comments are, as usual, very welcome!

Cheers,

Hugo

PS: Some photos are obviously inspired by Kostas Tzanetos. my feeble attempts come nowhere close, though.

This triptych might have a different rollout than some expected, but that shouldn't be too difficult to guess now...:) Thanks to my 1973 Goddess for modelling for me.

Hi Hugo! Besides the composition it does a great abstract effect to my view.
Well done!

Hello Hugo..
the photos are great.. but i feel that if we give a photograph its "right" and upload it alone this will give the viewer more time to look at it.. but when we put it in a collection of photos the mind will be affected by the other photoz next to it..
i wander if i u get my point!

Veramente una grande composizione, mi piace come i dettagli ci facciano vedere la citroen per intero. è una macchina davvero stupenda con una linea unica.
Quasi quasi ti copio l'idea per il mio beetle...

Now this is more like what I'd expect from a collage --- different views of the same subject that are immediately recognisable. I've never looked at a Goddess close up before, and I think the stearing wheel is really cool.

Now you've inspired me! Usually I'm pointing out the car window...but you've pointed inside and all over the place. This one held me -- took me on a ride of my own. The juxtaposition of colors, textures, live action and stills is excellent. I like your use of blur. Also the open and close with the opposing handles (first and last in series) is clever and the still in the center is very strong. Now I'll go back and see if this is your pattern in the others as well. A lot going on. You have so many wonderful examples in perspective Hugo. Ahhhh your antique (30 years qualifies for cars, no?) Of course, what does that make us!? Hope you had a wonderful trip. Antonia

Hi Hugo, I drove my Pallas for a wonderful, problem free 250,000km plus over a period of 14 years. Sadly, I had to sell it in order to buy myself a pick-up van for work purposes - sad, sad day! Many thanks for your thoughtful comments on my recent images, it is highly appreciated. Regards.

Hi Bradley, Very accurate description, thanks! I've put alot of thought into the placement of individual images, and the result looks nothing like the idea I had in mind when starting this series.

I know what you mean; eventhough I think the layout is not very straight forward, the pattern created by the nine individual shots is there, and clearly distinguishable. Maybe a little too much so. I struggled with this one, as the series of photos I had to chose from / work with was more limited than with the pervious two in this series.

I really appreciate your elaborate thoughs. Much appreciated!

Cheers,

Hugo

Hi P.J. Yeah. I love this car. Always loved it as my dad used to drive one. Now I own one myself, I'm just thrilled everytime I start up the engine and hear it spurr into life. I'm currently in the process of restauring it to it's full glory, and once that's completed, I'll definately post some more...:)

Cheers,

Hugo

Hi Karen, thanks for your comment. You're right, I did put a lot of thought in the position of the individual images, and the result looks nothing like the idea I had in mind. Using the movement within the car (-door) is an excellent idea. Thanks for the suggestion!

Cheers,

Hugo

I love the series of photos here and your placement of each image to keep the eyes moving from one photo to the next is excellent.

I've been wanting to do a collage like this buy with baby photos. What program did you use to obtain the 9 squares in which to place your photos in.

Hugo,

I suspect others noticed, but did not want to criticize. I still don't understand why people are so afraid to give honest critique... in a site dedicated to... CRITIQUES!

I'm glad I was able to help.

absolutely wonderful my friend.. your last series in sequence composition are so wonderful!!
I like it so much..
great snese of the frame.. the life in your car..

I'M IN LOVE WITH MY CAR
(Taylor)

(Dedicated to Johnathan Harris, boy racer to the end)

The machine of a dream
Such a clean machine
With the pistons a pumping
And the hubcaps all gleam

When I'm holding your wheel
All I hear is your gear
When my hand's on your grease gun
Oh it's like a disease son

I'm in love with my car
Gotta feel for my automobile
Get a grip on my boy racer rollbar
Such a thrill when your radials squeal

Told my girl I'd have to forget her
Rather buy me a new carburettor
So she made tracks saying this is the end now
Cars don't talk back
They're just four wheeled friends now

When I'm holding your wheel
All I hear is your gear
When I'm cruising in overdrive
Don't have to listen to no run of the mill talk jive

I'm in love with my car
Gotta feel for my automobile
I'm in love with my car
String back gloves in my automolove!

Vocal - Roger Taylor

have a nice -wonderful week end
cheers
roby

A very nice sequence of photos for the montage, Hugo.

The photo on middle row, left column, is not properly alligned, though. That really jumps out.

I love the DS2, btw. I really like its looks :)

Hi Shane, Thanks for your comments. I do think it's always a good idea to stop posting for the sake of it... Although, it does reduce my uploads to a max of 3 a week (more likely one good one every month, as we are our own worst critics...

And: more NYC shots will follow in a week or two.

Much appreciated,

Cheers,

Hugo

Hugo, your Goddess lives on!

This is a great collection of photograph, all of them really nice. But together, with all the different colors, it's really NEAT.

I like the wild colors and the wild ride!
The movement captured, GOOD JOB,
Lori :)

As usual, your triptychs are very original and interesting, many of the images could stay as single good photo, I like them all, the first for the abstracts feeling and the colors, the second for the people and this one for your Beauty ;) I wish you a good trip, of course I?ll be waiting for a mass of fantastic photos :) Bye, Max

beatiful symmetry game in the choice of shots here; the one in the middle on the left is less suitable in my opinion; I would choose one with more space of internal car instead of a great piece occupied by the road

If anyone cares to reference Kostas's simular shot:

Lovely series, see you again soon. The best shot of them all is the one dead center. The water drops are just the right added touch.

Hello Hugo..
I am most surprised at the symmetry that you have exhibited. Corner to corner (the lights and doorhandles)...by color (the interior, vertically, and again, the lights and doorhandles)....and by subject (same). While I am pulled into symmetry naturally, I find myself consciously avoiding it, for fear that it "doesn't challenge". Not to suggest that this is mundane....it certainly is not. Perhaps the best way to explain my feelings about this triptych is that when I sit back and take it in, I don't have enough questions, and I am not scratching my head. I want to have question marks floating around in my head.

The quality of the individual photos is quite impressive, and the various colors are pleasant. I particularly like the three exterior shots...tack sharp, and I can feel the cool metal, holding onto the moisture.

I have little doubt that you will embrace my thoughts on this work. Your open and fertile mind certainly requires feedback of all kinds, and it is a tribute to you, that I feel so comfortable being open and honest with you.

Kindly... Brad

Succes,

Groeten,

Hugo

Great idea and orginal!

groet,

Riny

Definitely a great series of work, and it couldn't be done any better. I can tell that you put a lot of thought into the positioning of the images, as they flow nicely from one to the next, and the overall design is fantastic. I like the blurred lights and the speeding car which go with the transportation theme nicely. I think that if you were to do this same series of images again, I would have the car door open in the beginning image and have it shut at the end. Of course I find this whole series inspiring and well put together. Great work~
