I recognized it as a fiber optics lamp right away. But I am very impressed with what you have been able to get out of it. You might enjoy what I have been doing (abstractly) with different lights:

This also reminds me of a shot I did that appears to be underwater but which is not.
Great stuff.

of course nudie pics are going to get higher ratings. it's very hard to type more than a couple of words and think straight, one handed.
personally, I don't rate at all because every image is unique. like you, I think I would need to compare similarities before passing judgement.
this is an amazing abstract. now my third usefilm favorite.

nice shot. kinda looks like a starry night mixed with something from under the sea. not that i looked below or anything but i believe its a photo of a fibre optic lamp. :) do i get a prize for being the tenth person to guess it right?

You're completely right, but if i compare this photo to your "nude females" this IS a 7. It's a great shot. Very good idea to use this very shallow DOF. Strange that some of us don't see what it is though.

Pat, Pat, Pat....Calm down buddy. This shot IS a 7 but you are dealing ,not only, photography but also with biology when dealing with the comments on most of your work. Its all good Papi. What this is ????????? I haven't a clue. Great picture though. Sal

P, very interesting, like a self contained, 3-D universe, complete with milky way galaxy and shotting stars. personally, i don't care what the object is in "real life", how the ratings are doing, nor what kinds of stuff the photographer normally shoots. This rocks (the universe)! E

I am very disappointed at the ratings.. Someone seems to think that a picture of a beautiful girl with her ass in the air deserves a 7, yet, this picture doesn't...
On the subject of ratings... Rating this a 1 or a 7... Compared to what???? I can find a picture of the Statue of Liberty or the Eiffel Tower and compare it to someone else's, then rate it accordingly. But, what can you compare this one to? This is something never before seen. Impossible to duplicate and um-comparable to anything... I am not looking for 7's but when I rate a picture I usually compare it to something else to try to judge it for its quality, originality and emotional appeal. Once again, it is disappointing to see an artistic REAL photograph like this one be rated less than a naked chick.
Cheers
Pat

I would say it is probably a fibre optic lamp. The ones that change colours. Taken in the dark with only the inner light illuminating the area.
All the same...I love the clarity and depth of it.
