A view I know so well, from my yearly pilgrimage to the Lakes. Taken from halfway up Latrigg I'm guessing? Thank you for your comment on my effort from halfway up (or was it down) the path to Dale Head. I posted a few more tonight, I hope you will view. Cheers Steve.

I also prefer the original as the other is a little too soft for my tastes and seems lacking in contrasts and depth. There is a certain Constable quality to your modified version though i must admit... mainly down to the even lighting from foreground to background. I have also had a quick play... I selected the sky then adjusted levels to bring more detail and drama into it. A slight adjustment of hue and then curves finished that off. Then I inverted the selection and adjusted the levels separately, increased saturation and finally a small tweak to the curves to finish off.... Only you can know what you were looking for though so don't be surprised if you don't like my variation!
Nice image of Skiddaw though David...

David, I love this view although it is a bit soft. Have done a bit of adjustment that took 2-3 mins. I simply adjusted the middle slider in levels to lighten the foreground and used the magic wand tool to select the sky then did a colour adjustment and added more blue to the selected sky. Hope this is of help to you. Den

I think I prefer the original sky, as it's more dramatic, although both skies seem a bit bright compared with the foreground.
