Hi Chris,

its dead simple - take a series of images using the same settings and ensure you use a tripod (obvuiose reasons).

then in PS copy each image into new layer in a single PSD. So for this I had 1 PSD with 10 layers, each with a different version of the image on it.

Now the trick:

Keep the bottom layer at 100% transparency
Layer 1 is set at 50%
Layer 2 is at 33%
Layer 3 is at 25%
... 1/n where n is the layer number

the formula to use for the transparency is the reciprocal of the layer so the 10th layer is at 10%.

Job done. Enjoy yourself ;-)

Nice idea, Keith and it works too! I know these falls and wish I could be up in The Dales - another good reason to be 'oop north'.

Beautiful image. The light is what makes this shot for me. I wish we had the option of seeing some of these phots with the full screen, they are so much prettier when they are large. But this one is beautiful.

Wow, if I didn't read your comments I would never have thought there would be 10 layers. Well done. Light and flow of the water are great!
