Very nice image!... the mood created is very interesting. It was a great idea to set a high iso value, the effect is very artistic.
Congratulations. Regards.

Hi Vadim. Not sure what you'll be shooting with Vadim. Maybe the expensive adapters have glass in them to preserve the lenses abilty to focus to infinity if you're putting it on a Nikon, say. Canons I don't think it's neccesary. There is of course the conversion factor with digital slrs. I'm not using an expensive one, it came with a 10 28mm super takumar that was on a cluttered shelf in the shop. I'm looking forward to seeing through a zeiss but can't speak from experience. If it is "Super Multi Coated" or "smc", the lens had more generous dollopings of coating than has ever been used in cameras since and should be quite flare free. As a starting point can I recommend Karen Nakamura's website http://www.photoethnography.com/ClassicCameras ,click on "My Classic Camera collection" and you'll find a link to some reviews of lenses. Very chatty enthused website. Love it. This particular 55mm is crazed with mould I think on one of the elements, so it has it's own personality!:) I'm always shooting with the camera aperture set on manual. You could stop down though. Remember most these were from the days before full aperture metering. Not an expert. I haven't taken a decent shot with my 28 mm yet but thrilled to have the cheap adapter. Can be awkward to remove. Love to know how you go.

You inspired me to get a M42 adapter and some older lenses. What would you recommend? As you can guess, I am not after sharpenss and etc, but I am looking for that esoteric look I see in this picture.
Can you suggest 35mm or 28mm or may be even wider lens? Did you try Zeiss M42 glass?
Regarding the adaptors, I see very cheap adaptors on the ebay, but there also very expensive ones for $150-$175. Does it make sense to buy an expensive adaptor?

I can hear the rumour of the waves, feel the violence of the sea and smell the salt... it's a wonderful shot and I like the noise too.

It is a pentax *istsd. I've decided since I own it I should take responsibility for naming it. Actually there is a 55mm schneider at a second hand shop near by, not sure I should get excited or not.:)

Yep, noise! Lots of it! But appropriately applied...:) The emptiness is the forebode of silence and tranquility...

Ursula I'd just taken the other picture off that second to incongrous that wee wave in the front. It was after the storm but I suspect I didn't have the white balance right as I have been slack with that, and have ruined a lot of opportunities lately being lazy with that. This particular lens is rare earth (cool, radioactive!) which can lend tone as well.

I would say this is a creative approach, very well captured! I love the grain, sometimes can be very effective on color pictures and this is the case! Thanks for your coment and best regards, Ian.

Real moody Ian! Love the image. The noise from the 3200 iso works with the image. Awesome portfolio! Daniel

Will the second shot be of the same wave or a new one? In that case, will it actually be a "second" shot, or a second attempt at a new shot? Whatev-uhh... just keep 'em rollin' in. JIL
