Personally I find the portrait a very hard medium to execute. Your color image here does the one thing I personally fail to grab, that close feeling and fleeting moment of slight and transient comfort between photographer and subject, some people can be very aware of the lens and it takes from the image. You got it right here I feel. Though I thrive on the candid style I can always admire a strong portrait in this style. This is a fine image, deep and captivating...its all in the eyes too, goos shot Mica...

wow! it's great that a little polaroid can bring about such discourse. howie and gary, i tend to agree with kevin and ameed. of course the bias is not because it's about my own fotograph, but because i tend not to go for the classic sense of perfection. i prefer rawness over flawless, and jazzmatic discordance over uniform. not that the other is not beautiful on it's own, it's all subjective. for instance, with this i was more interested on attitude and mood. my cousin wanted headshots for his musical introduction, so i interpreted what he wanted into that picture (which he didn't choose as a final). none-the-less, i very much appreciate your critiques because they are insightful. and kevin, your compliment means a lot to me. :',

excellent - the eye contact with the viewer throws this one into greatness -- the color and grain add too -- I diagree with the softness comments - too often looking for perfection and the "perfect" picture in the images we view detracts from the form, beauty and enjoyment of the picture itself... -- I know what you mean about scanning and un-organization - am in the same boat too trying to scan my prior life.. I agree with howie on the it is a little to soft, but the shadowing and choice of background color is superb.

Its a little soft but I love the light and grain in the capture. Very good.
