Stellar Eagle (Haliaeetus pelagicus)
The third largest eagle in the world, this spectacular species can hardly be expected to be seen in North America. Named for the noted 18th-century zoologist Georg Wilhelm Steller.
Mainly resident in northeastern Asia. Winters from breeding range south to Korea and Japan. Accidental to casual in Aleutian Islands and western Alaska.
