well, I think that the BIP speaks from itself, that it is quite a fantastic photo to me. You have here a think that you usually avoid ...a white that blows a little, but I prefer to see it like that, because what you loose there you win with the hight contrast that you gain...the result was fantastic! regards my friend.

Dear Maja,
thanks for the lenghty & interesting comment. As for the building: I already excluded it from the special filter treatment ;) If the building would even be more brighter, I guess the harmony between the sky and the building would suffer.
anyway, appreciate your honest words a lot. take care, Thilo

Hello Thilo, Congratulations for BIP!I am happy for you. :) Great composition and great choice for B&W. Fantastic dramatic sky with strong b&w tones. It's good. But,I wish that building is not so dark. Maybe if building could be little brighten it would give stronger contrast.Anyway,it's minor note.I like this one!Good work. Best regards

I love this one my friend.. must start to say congratulations!! =) You well deserved a BIP for this shot. Even as the small picture i saw that it was something special. Im amazed of your quality as a photographer.. really a fantastic shot. Everything is perfect into the smallest detail! Worthy to be published i think! No need to talk about techniques here.

Very good and very dramatic and well worth the BIP. The building toghether with the greyish tones looks like an official building behind what once was the Iron Curtain. The letters to the right give it away though. Lovely dramatic sky.

the dark (plus the b&w treatment) makes this picture, so i definitely wouldn't want it lighter. it's well composed. the only thing that is distracting is the 'phantom' written at the corner, but that's just me being minimalist.

Hi Thilo, I think the dark tones are the key element in this shot; it adds a somewhat gloomy and grim atmosphere, which I think fits the subject perfectly. The sky (subject background, obviously...;o) is superb... Very good shot; works very well for me!

Hugo

Actually I don't think it's too dark. I would even darken the side of the taller building to total black to remove the dark grey detail...the overall darkness of the sky and the black shadow gives a sense of tension and waiting for "the other shoe to drop" as it may be.. K
