Sorry, lass, just a bit of wistful reminiscing. And no, haven’t seen this anywhere… not ever. Not in a published mag or other place. Sorry.

And Keven C. actually made a comment on this pic... scroll back up... you will find him.

Whom or what is K Collier ? If it's some other person...you lost your wife's money. I took this YEARS ago and it's been published in mags. Probably recognized it from that ?

This is a "K" Collier pic...I'd bet my wife's money....

Good shot, but to me first two things going across my mind after seeing this are Chernobyl and Hiroshima/Nagasaki... Not that fun, when you consider it's reality out there.
Apart from that, good, scary shot, and the kid really knows how to 'play it right' considering the expression that gives extra dimension to the mask itself. Disturbing, but good.

INCREDIBLE ! One of my alltime favorites on this site. This little guy shows a lot of attitude. Instead of all those children portraits with fake smiles, this guy really looks like he wants to do something else. I love it.

hi Eric..thank you so much for your detailed explanation ! I appreciate it. but I have to be honest.. I don't like to follow rules and don't want to necessarily learn them with photography. well.. I do follow certain rules but don't you think that would impede your own creative vision ? either it looks great or it doesn't. rules are made to be broken and especially with an artistic medium such as photography. It's great to learn them when first "learning"...but..sometimes its so much better and fun to break them. makes your work unique and original. I think the most important rule is to follow your heart..and have fun !! experiment. relax.. your images will reflect that mood and be so much better than any "standard" photography rules.
anyways.. you got me rambling..lol..happy shooting and looking forward to your growth !

The Rule Of Thirds: Visualize two vertical lines dividing your viewfinder into thirds. Now visualize the same thing with two horizontal lines. Your viewfinder would now look like a tic-tac-toe grid. (Some digital cameras have a setting that will pop up a grid in the view finder. My S7000 has this option.)

If you have trouble visualizing this, get a magazine and draw the lines on one of the pictures that you like. Then look for the different applications of the Rule Of Thirds.

For the simplest practice of the Rule Of Thirds, just position your subject at one of the intersections of the lines, or partway between one of the intersections and the center. This will usually give a more pleasing compostion than having the subject exactly in the center of the photo.

(I'm still learning about this photography stuff, so I hope this definition helps.)

This image is just brilliant. Not 'pretty' and captures the imagination of this child. The lack of sentimentality gives us an insite which would be otherwise be compromised. Wonderful.
