sarah, thank you! glad you dig it. the lens is the big brother of your 60mm micro-nikkor. the benefit is a much larger working distance while retaining 1:1 capability. i love this thing. takes great macros but is a bit more iffy for landscape work. it's supposedly very good at taking portraits too but i wouldn't know about that ;^)
btw, i don't have any extension tubes but i'm guessing that you do ;^) maybe a joint experiment?
take care, tom

Another great macro. While I certainly respect the other comment, I think the dirt provides a good focal point. The "lit" pieces are sort of shiney and draw my eye to them. I love the "wave" of the layers. This draws the eye nicely from left to right. I agree that this is sooo creative. I am getting even more curious about this lens. Wonder what it would do with some extension tubes? Another great shot Tom!!!!

That's weird, when I first looked at the thumb nail my first thought was that this is some sort of super-symetrical desert formation, but no, it was you stuck in the desert with nothing to do but be creative. You passed the time well, I must say. Oh, by the way, my Chevy Blazer has flaps covering the wheelwells. Just thought I would share that.

wonderfull photo. I hate the fact that you cannot write down the exact shutter speed or aperture value like before.

monis, excellent point! unfortunately you can only work with what you have, especially out in in the middle of nowhere :^) in this case, i thought the dirt would do the trick. oh well, maybe next time... air filters are pretty easy to find ;^)
thanks for the comment & take care, tom

Hi Tom, Very good abstract, DOF, the high level of details as well as the composition are superb. Not much to add this time...;o) Timothy said it all!
Cheers,

Dirty dirty...... to think we breathe that crap in everywhere we go - our lungs must be built to adapt, eh?
OK I'll go back to smoking my cigs......
Nice detail.

Wonderful shot, Tom. I love the color, curves and the sharpness of the dust. Whenever I look away to other part of the picture and back to the sharpness (dust), it gave me the 3D effect. Do you have any shot that has more than F8 :<) or the curves has more "bends" ? I love to see if there is :P
Nice work !
Regards,Bobby

nice idea. but, there has to be a focal point on this image, which is missing. something like a water drop, oil drop. something which will add a point of interest. keep shooting!

Does it work? Wow, does it ever! I like the texture and the lighting. When I first saw it, I thought it was something in a wetlit studio type of setting, not the side of the road.
I am very impressed not only with the shot and how it looks, but how creative you were to find this. I mean, how many people look at an air filter and pull out a camera to take a photo of it?
Great job. Adding to favorites and giving you top marks!
