Colors, composition, timing, lighting, texture, everything is just perfect... great shot.

PS: my 17mm lens gets so curved lines... how did you manage to get that straight horizon line? ... It would be good to know.

Top ratings from me, Greg. This may be the most unusual and beautiful sky I've ever seen. To my eye, the foreground is captured perfectly, down to the reflections in the lake and the trees drenched in warm golden light. It's just overwhelmed by the powerful clouds.
Talk about poetry...

An amazing array of water, clouds, color and drama you've brought to this sight. Markos makes a good point regarding foreground, but it certainly doesn't detract much from this beautiful show nature provided and you were lucky enough to capture. Nature is indeed a wonderful thing.

I know what you mean on the quickness of things... I have so many beautiful clouds with little or no foreground. I keep them in my stack for memories sake. I love the clouds as well... I always look at them first before anything else, most of the time my composition suffers because I look up and not down. You have the luxery here of a 14mm lens and a beautifully colored sunrise, thats all you needed.
I read once clouds alone can make a photograph.

The question of a strong foreground is a good one - large - the color in the water is much more apparent - it happened so fast, I could barely get the lens on in time. My love is the clouds, my head is in the clouds and maybe I should be more grounded. Maybe one day, I'll get another chance at this.

I like when you use that 14mm lens, this looks more like fire than a flash. Thes kinds of colors last for such a short time then there gone faster than they came. The only thing missing is a strong foreground, but do you really need that with clouds like that.

Amazing color and shape; so how did you get the gods to offer up such a beautiful firey cloud for you? :) I assume persistence paid off.
