Ana ........ I also wanted to point out that the bad word used by Ames, in his first comment, has been changed to all asterisks. I tried to include mention of it in the above comment but it resulted in the entire comment being blocked. If you make any mention, using certain words, that the comments on this site are being watched it will result in their being blocked from posting. I've had comments quoting from the Bible that were not able to post ........ strange place.

Ana ......... that comment was directed to me, and it was in response to my reply to Mr. Ame’s first comment .......... which was also directed to me. I received email notification of both the comments from Mr. Ames, and if you received notification too it’s most likely because they were posted on this picture of yours.

When you originally posted the picture I saw its similarity with the Constructionist “black on black” paintings of Alexander Rodtschenko’s from the 1920s ........ so I quoted [in my comment at the time] from Rodtschenko’s well known Futurist [from the Russian perspective of the era] Manifesto as an acknowledgment of the connection between your work and his.

Now, three years later, along comes Mr. Ames with some complaint about the Rodtschenko quotation ......... and in spite of my explanations he seems to have it in his head that I’m somehow connected with the opinions of Rodtschenko. Not that it’s any of his business if were, but I did offer to explain the connection between your photograph and the Manifesto. But I suggested he take up his problem regarding the opinions in the quotation with someone who would defend or support it. It’s that point he doesn’t seem to understand. His command of English seems limited and his level of cultural literacy low.

Now, because of the childish nature of his last comment .... the one you are concerned about ........ I suspect he feels foolish and will go away. As for removing the comments I do not know how to contact anyone managing this site ........ but I’d leave them up as a reminder to Mr. Ames, and hopefully they’ll dissuade him from butting into conversations in the future.

:)

Hi Ana ........... got the message you posted to my picture.

What happened here is that Mr. Ames made a comment to me from this page by clicking “Reply to john dittrich” on the old comment I had made to you back in 2003 ....... and I got notice of it via email.

He seems to take offense with the Rodtschenko quotation in my comment. ......... doesn’t understand the context in which it’s presented [not that it’s any of his business] ............ yet wants to complain about it. Doesn’t seem to have anything to do with your picture though.

Just a pest and I’m sure he’ll go away ....... and I’m sure A* would take the comments down if you asked.

So, I see you now posting again here ........... and some interesting work as always. Few people here that I know anymore ........ except Fabio and Jeanette Hagglund. I’m not posting many pics these days as my business needs attention ......... but up until recently I was posting some snapshots on my Zert page here, but even took those down because I couldn’t keep up with the few comments they brought.

I do check your Photos**n pages to see what you’ve been up too.

:)

What debate, Mr. Ames? I just told you that if you have a problem with [ or wish to “debate” ] Rodtschenko’s statement you’ll need to go find someone to defend it. That’s not clear? And you don’t understand that connecting the statement to the picture is not an endorsement of either the statement or the picture? Then perhaps you think the ability to connect guillotines to Jacobeans would mean one is in favor of terror and beheadings?

My advice to you is not to attempt to debate anyone, not to be a pest, to keep the “F” word confined to your own UF page ......... and to find a new hobby.

this is not the forum to debate an issue of this depth. however, may you continue finding solace and self importance in quotation marks. political opinion is a poor substitute for aesthetics; i'm not sure you exercise taste in either.

If you don’t understand the connection between the quotation and the photograph I would be happy to entertain a question ....... however, if your problem is with the quotation itself I suggest you take it up with someone who will defend Mr. Rodtschenko. And if you should decide to do either I advise you to dispense with the juvenile language and affected angst.

yeah, let's have art for the equally ugly politicians, or the equally ugly masses; in fact, down with everything, except alexander todt-schenko, send 'em all to prison! especially if they love beauty! to the mines with 'em. reactionary dogs.

hey, john? wake the **** up, huh?

"Down with art that aspires to be nothing more than a spot of beauty on the ugly lives of the rich. Down with art that tries to be a glittering stone in the merciless and dirty lives of the poor. Down with art whose sole purpose is to escape a life not worth living. Work for life and not for palaces, cathedrals, cemeteries and museums. Work in the midst of all and with everyone."
......................Alexander Rodtschenko
