I agree with Helena, it could be a bit lighter. Also a bit less contrast, Great composition though, with amazing detail. Just my opinion.

Beautiful birds aren't they? This is a great shot. He looks frustrated...who can blame him. I used to feel like this when I was stuck on the capitol beltway for hours. You are right about it being a bit contrasty in my opinion. But it still works fine here. I know you are not a big fan of midday shooting. Did you take some contrast out in photoshop?? I will probably post up some wildlife this week as well. Another nice one Ken.

It turns out that in my inexperience with this kind of shots, I made a BIG mistake when I pushed this roll, which actually increases contrast! I really should've pulled the film. But somehow the shots came out okay, surprisingly.
Steve: My earlier shots from Banff were scanned with a Nikon LS-8000 that I rented from Vistek in Toronto. My more recent shots, like this one, are scanned with the Nikon LS-2000. There is definitely a difference in the scan quality but you won't be able to tell from this small image file. And the LS-2000 is surprisingly good.

this is a masterpiece.
can you please explain this "Film pushed one stop to reduce contrast"?
what do you also think about my todays pic? how would it look likre if I used an ND grad?

I like everything about this shot. The saturated blues, the reduced contrast, the sharpness of the foreground and the blurred birds in the background. An all around great nature shot!

Lovely image Kenneth.
I like the way the main bird's wings give the impression of movement, because of the slow shutter speed. I also like the slight reduction in contrast, it works really well.
