What a confusing shot! Not in a bad way though, to me it speaks of a mixture of eras that in itself is a great achievement. The black and white just adds to the confusion, perhaps illusion would be a better word? Bravo Peta another instant classic.

Wow, this is a great bunch of very nice comments. Brooke is happy you like this so well, she did most of the work.:) Thank you all!

Yes Ronny, my youngest, soon to be 19.

Karen, no reflector. Yes that would be fun to run around my area of Texas shooting things! ;)

John, thanks, but I'm learning just like you, don't throw away the cameras!

Carol, thanks. :) No it was handheld, standing on the dining room table, she on the floor below. My favourite window behind her.

Yet another gorgeous portrait, Peta. Now THIS is a great CD cover for Brooke. This shows wonderful use of natural lighting with shadows in just the right places. Was this handheld or a tripod shot? So nice and clear... My daughter is coming home from college for a week and I already warned her that I'm going to make her pose so I can work on my portraiture. I could only hope to get something remotely close to this... You have found your calling... Adding to my favorites.

Congrats on your standing for this portrait Peta. It is excellent. And quite frankly - you are too consistent with great natural lit portraits for it to be any dumb luck. Congrats. Maybe one day I will make it out to Texas to shoot with you.

If someone asked "what is a portrait'? This is what I would show them. This photograph is to photography what "Gatsby" is to the novel. I hate opening your page because it makes me want to throw my cameras away and take up golf.

Very good control of the light, as usual Peta. Your daughters are so lovely that it is sometimes difficult to be objective about the photographs themselves. However, this really is excellent with an interesting composition, excellent placement in the frame. Your portraits have a simplicity and clarity that I find very appealing but they also have a style that is all your own. Bravo!!!

Peta; this is a beautiful photo-- and moment. The composition is perfect for this subject with a strong diagonal from right to left. I also lkie the stripes on Brooke's head w/ this pattern repeated in the frets of the guitar. This is great in B&W, but you mention the "red glitter guitar", and I can't help but wonder what the color version looks like? BTW, I hacked away on guitars for years myself, and I think I know how she feels about HER guitar. Cheers. Craig

Love the compositonal element to this image. It is very appealing and interesting to the eye. As always your natural lighting and tonal range are excellent. You really have got your use of natural lighting down pat. How wonderful. I have studio lighting (have not had too long and am still learning) and cant produce lighting to touch your naturally lit portraits. Out of curiousity, do you use a refector or anything? Simply beautiful.

Very pleasant image, it's well composed, I like the diagonal of the guitar, the B&W tone range is great, it adds a lot to her skin, also her dress is very elegant and inhances the composition, finally her look captures my eyes. Just a splendid photo! Bye Max
