This is very beautiful. The petals look like flames. I can almost see them flickering. Wonderful. MAry

After looking carefully at all your pictures this one is my favorit.I'm not into macro myself, but "admire" persons who achieve shots like this.

Thanks Michael for your comment. Since I am lazy I am just going to repeat what I said about lighting above "This was light from behind the petals with a diffused lamp and a flashlight on the front, spotlighting the edge where the petals meet the centre." I do all my lighting with a desk lamp and flashlights, as I don't have any pro lights and I like the warmness that they produce. I also have a few orange gels to add more warmth when needed. I'm off to check out your portfolio!

Another great flower pic. What kind of lighting set up was used here?

As you were commenting, I was downstairs with the good ol mag light and another sunflower, trying out new shadows and angles. So, if they turn out expect to see some more in the near future. Thanks Russel and Toni for your new comments... I'm glad to have this one back in the light for a while.

Kim, love what you did with the flashlight. I think this is your best image yet. I do wish you had painted the center of the flower with the light also, would be a truly grand image then. I want to see some more like this! Sorry it took me so long to find it.

Thanks for the gracious comments everyone!
David: This was light from behind the petals with a diffused lamp and a flashlight on the front, spotlighting the edge where the petals meet the centre.
Again, thanks everyone for the wonderful support.

Stunning!
It looks like flames. Composition is spot on. Wonderful fluidity. Dramatic lighting and DOF. Well done.
