I love the b&w tone... Personally i would've done a portrait shot to get the the whole head & trunk in the frame, but am not 100% convinced that my picture would've looked better than yours ...the close crop is growing on me.

Thanks for the comment Carole - Funnily enough this shot was taken in Chobe aswell, however this was a youngster with a bit of an attitude and luckily not a grumpy old bull (note the small tusks) I was, however, charged by a huge bull in the Okovango on the same trip I will have to scan the slides of that encounter and post them here.

Excellent capture! Like the B&W! Not so sure about your safety though - I was with a group in Chobe and was charged by an old bull! Regards!

Very nice shot, the B&W was a good idea, it looks like those Tarzan movies from John Wayne times, ... Congratulations!

no Kim it wasn't too dangerous - when an elephant has its ears flared like this one it it only a "mock charge" if it's ears are flat back then you have problems - besides, I was sitting on the roof of a Land Rover at the time and would have been fairly safe had he decided to charge. Thanks for your comment

The elephant composition photograph is good. Wasn't dangerously?
