Ronnie - manual focus!? Unbelievable. As one of the other commenters said, I like the translucent appearance of the wings.
BTW - thanks for your comments on my egret shot. I would have preferred a whole reflection, too, but there were some more reeds in that area. This was my 5th trip to this area, and the first time the egret was this close. He was walking around - wading and fishing, and I felt really lucky to grab him as he pulled out a fish. As you pointed out, the water running off the bill indicated he'd just been in the water.
I went back there and the egret (as usual) was across the swamp, but a greenback heron was displaying after eating a frog. I've just added that to my portfolio. These birds are really beautiful, but their eyes look really - empty or something.

ROnnie, OH BOY this is a good one. Flying birds are tuff to get . the light and sharpness are amazing to say the least. beautiful bird, the colors are great. Keep shootin up lake Martin !! jimc

Great capture of this bird in flight..I like how the feathers of the wing is translucent showing off the details within the feathers themselves..Yes, a bit close on the tail feathers, with feet tucked under for flight..but still very good IMO. Stands out well against your dark backgound. Well Done Ronnie!
