Beautiful catchlights and such soft skin tones. I love the way her hair is draped over everything...another nice shot, Karen.

Hi Karen . . . is this your little girl? She is beautiful! I'm forty-nine and take care of two little girls. Your photos are amazing for someone who has only been at this two years. What an inspiration you are to me. Please feel free to e-mail me at
Lass53@aol.com Thank you for your comments and suggestions. I have been working to make improvements on the soldier shot.

A very pretty little girl, and great skills with the camera and PS. I think I might like to see her whole head and the hands that are cut off. You may have cut them off bacause they were taking away, or throwing off the balance, but it's the only thing that stands out to me as imperfect.

Hi Ty, No secrets here. I gladly share any information on my photos. I am here to learn and love to lend advice or methods to anyone interested, though there is not much to lend. What I did here is duplicated the layer, added the gaussian blur to the top layer, then simply used the eraser around eyes, mouth, and corners of nose to make her features pop. At that point I added the green to her eyes and here you have it. No sharpening used on this photo. But I suspect you could also do it the way you mentioned. I may give that a try. Thanks for looking.

Absolutely wonderful treatment of the skin for softness, and the eyes for clarity. I agree that the lighting is great, but did you also not select the skin and blur, and then select just the eyes and mouth for sharpening? (or is that a secret?) And it took me a second to see the hint of green in the otherwise B&W, and then I thought I imagined it and had to look again. I love this portrait. It's her beauty and the wonderful contrast that makes it great, and those other touches make it a treasure.

Oh, my, Karen. When you can light like this, I don't know why you'd want to learn PS. Wondeful model, wonderful photo.

Hi Karen, funny to see some 'family?' on this forum! I like the photo, but I don't like to colouring of the eyes. It's too much (but then I'm still not a real fan of PS). Nevertheless, I'm curious of your newcoming works.
