About
This is an honest and true account of what actually happened… I add nothing to the historical record. The following transcript is as accurate as I can recall. You can ask MM if I am telling the truth. MM and I were doing a bit of canoeing at Woodhaven Lake. As usual, I was doing most of the work. We were making our way around the south-eastern tip when I said, “Let’s go over by the bank.” “Why?” “Just to see what we can see.” So MM (who did the steering [she sits in the rear of the canoe so I can take pics…if she was in the bow her paddle shoots water spray back and on my lens]) took us over by-dere. While mucking about, I saw a can of some sort bobbing in the bracken laden water. Slipping my right hand to my trusty Nikon I called back, “Get that!” “Get what?” “Get that!!! The can… see if you can get it.” MM fished about with her oar and finally gave me a decent shot. I took the posted image. Then I said, “Get it out of the water.” “Why?” “I’m gonna drink it.” “YOU ARE NOT!!!!!!!!!!!” “Yes I am.” “NO!! YOU WILL NOT!!” “Yes, I will.” “NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!” and she stuffed the can of beer back in the lake and started paddling off. I tried to plead my case with this: “Look, it is floating so that means it is sealed. If it is sealed, that means it is un-tainted. If it is un-tainted that means I can still drink it. After all, it is a Bud Light… how much worse can it be?” Her answer???, “You don’t know how long it has been here! It might have been 5 years!” “Yeah, but it is still sealed! I can take a photo series! ‘See the can. Find the can. Shoot the can. Retrieve the can. Drink the can… look at me in the hospital.”
She did laugh… but refused to go back…. And honest to ME…. Had she not sped us off… I would have cracked this open and taken a very interesting montage of consequences shots.
