I haven't been around for a long time, too. New job in Berne, and exciting as it is it is also very time consuming. Still I try to somehow manage everything and be here more often than in the last month.

Hi Nick,
I haven't been around much lately and have lots of catching up to do in the comments and posting department. :) I have taken quite a few images over the last little while. Some new, old trucks, lots of wild life, tennis and auto racing.
I will put a couple up this weekend before I am off to the cottage again on Monday.

I was going to add - Saskatchewan is thick with old farmhouses, leftover from the days of the 1/4 section homestead. Farms get bigger, the rural population declines, and the result is ghost towns and abandoned farmsteads. Very sad (and between abandoned cisterns, rotted floors and falling-down barns, a bit dangerous to explore).

Hi Nick,
A couple of days ago, I did a little side trip to a small village called Rockingham. They have an old church and graveyard there. Very photogenic!
Also, I found some old trucks on the side of the road that I had never seen before. As you can imagine, the images are exactly the kind I live for. :) I'll be posting a few for sure.

As the time passes by, it seems that you gathered enough material for an exhibition about the less known views in the region. I think even your old thrown away cars would fit well for that.

You are probably right about taking out the dirt. It was an oversight on my part. They were widening the road just in front of the house and the dirt looks recently worked on. It would have been more appropriate if that area were overgrown.

Thanks a lot for the info, Andre! So that's what I found so "strange"! It is the rust along with the rest that is not rusting yet. It gave me the impression of some kind of false exposure though I knew that this can't be possible since the rest of the image is completely OK in exposure.
I wait enthusiastically for some more images of the house in such extreme persectives! Andre goes Hitchcock!! ;-)

Wonderful shot Andre, I like the worm old rustic house colors and the flowers really add a nice framing touch. I might have cropped out some of the lower dirt area. Nicely done.

It is some kind of tin roof. Poor galvanized steel I suppose, because it is rusting in areas. I have no idea how old the roof is, or the house for that matter. I would guess maybe 1880's for original build date.
You are absolutely right about the extreme perspective images working to add more mystery and uneasiness in the viewer. I'll post one. I took many angles. :)

I only have the impression that the roof's color is somehow.. as if it wouldn't really be this way. I guess it is sheet tin, or something similar? neverthelle, the rest of the colors are again vivid but not overblown. Especially the green and red on the bottom found a very nice contrast partner in the yellow behind it. The focus and the details are again just about perfect. They help the spectator very well to receive the conveyed atmosphere of isolation in such a ghost town.
BTW, I think that here some more "extreme" perspective could add to the "secrets" of the house.

I'm glad you mentioned the flowers. I've noticed one of the saddest things about derelict or torn down homes and foundations is when you can see where the border of the property was by the domestic flowers gone wild. Or, you can see where a row of formally neatly kept hedges have grown into trees. It's not difficult to imagine kids from a long gone family playing in the yard with their Mother hanging washing on a line.

Excellent tones and details to this old building and it's surrounds my dear Andre. Walls have ears and it's a shame that they don't have vocal cords, oh what secrets would tumble forth. It is all boarded up and nobody was keen to just demolish it, so there it sits, brooding with it's secrets. An interesting composition and I feel sure you are holding more info on this place. Well done to you my good friend. My very best wishes to you as always........Ray
